Why We Care
Bassing Beach got its name from the fisherman who used to stand on the beach and fish for striped bass
Used by recreational boaters, fisherman, sailors, swimmers, kayakers, hunters and others for over 50 years, Bassing Beach is protected waterway, enjoyed by thousands all year round.
We believe the proposed aqua-farm will destroy the residents way of life and ruin this beloved natural resource.
The friends of Bassing Beach is a collection of Scituate and Cohasset residents who want to protect this watershed. We believe that once the real information is known the residents of Scituate and Cohasset will join us to protect this resource.
We are not against commercial fishing, we believe everyone has a right to make a living, we support local business. All we ask is that they people who use this area be consulted and allowed to play a role.
We live here; we are the ones who use the beach. We are the ones who will lose this resource. Please join us and make your voice heard.
The Friends of Bassing Beach will be a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We have no commercial interest in this land, and represent only our members, who are residents of Scituate, Cohasset and other towns in eastern MA.
